Sometimes parts of a website need to be alterable for authors not knowing about FTP, SSH, etc and a full-blown CMS would be way too much. Therefore I came up with a super easy, Dropbox-based solution. Nothing fancy, but quite a nice idea.
- Create a text-file in the author's Dropbox
- Create a public link for this file
- From the Dropbox download-page for this file copy the link from the "Download"-button and strip the "&dl=1" from it.
- On the website fetch and display the content directly from the Dropbox:
As the author edits the text-file in her/his Dropbox, the changes are immediately visible on the website. You just have to check that the encoding of the text-file is set correspondingly to the website or convert it server-side.
